Hi guys, this is my first blog. As climate change champion for the North East of England, I am really enjoying it and I hope to learn lots and lots!!!!!
I recently retuned from Romania, where I was asked to a PowerPoint presentation at the British Embassy, at an awards ceremony, like a competition that was ran by Defra. The competition was called the Romanian young ambassadors against climate change. My presentation was about what I had done so far as a climate change champion and what I hope to do in the near future. While I was at the ceremony I talked to some of the participants. They all seemed very passionate about climate change, and wanted to get the message across to more people.
After the ceremony we were invited to the palace of parliament, to attend a debate involving British and Romanian MP’s and Romanian Government Officials. Here I learnt a lot about what both Romania and the UK are doing to combat climate change. In comparison, the UK are quite far ahead in the battle against climate change. We unlike Romania, have easier access to facilities for recycling. I found out that there is a possibility that the UK will make it compulsory in the future, to make all new builds more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
It was a really big shame that all the climate change champions couldn’t have gone to Romania, as we had a great time together in Amsterdam. I am looking forward to meeting up again soon.
