OK, slight revision to plan,I'm going to do many famous leaders/figures rather than groups, unless I can think of a particularly funny line for a group.
So, to start with, I have chosen the Romans, from which many great quotes have originated.
Mark Antony-"Friends, Romans, Countrymen-Lend me your feet. I wish to reduce your carbon footprints, I come to bury them, not to praise them.
Julius Caesar-"I came (on public transport) I saw (the excessive use of fossil fuels) I conquered (in building the first ever windfarm)" or
"I came, I turned off lights, I lowered my emissions"
"Et tu Brute? Are you against the windfarm too?
"The die is cast, the Earth is lost."
"The world won't be saved in a day" ("Rome wasn't built in a day)
I know not all of them are strictly Roman, but allare either Roman or about Rome/Romans
Thought of doing a small comp at the end of each "Historical Solutions"- I'm going to leave one quote for people to change into a climate change quote themselves- just leave yours by adding a comment, and after a bit I'll choose the one I like the most!
So here it is...
"all roads lead to rome"
