i am at school, bored.

hello, at the moment, i am at school in the ICT suite. i am sitting on a grey chair, olivia morpeth is standing next to me, watching over what i am writing, and harriet harvey is sitting on the black computer chair next to me, on the same website as this. infront of me is rebekka askew, next to her is tia buddle, and next to tia is kyle towle; who i think i have mentioned before..? they are working on a science week thing - they have to take loads of pictures and also interview people all week. you see, this week is science week at malcolm sargent school, we have done loads of activities.. like: making sculptures out of marshmallows and spageti, watching chicks that have only just hatched (there are 9 chicks so far!), making loads of experiments and lots of science fun like that. but, now, we have come to the end of science week, which is very very sad. but, now, the eco crew have got to start pitching our ideas onto the wow competition, hopefully we will win!!

that's it for now, i will blog again on monday, when i am back at school, laters. from beth

Energy at the School!!

At our school, the energy is not the best in the world!! Well, certainly not!

The silly year 2's don't even worry about turning off taps, so the energy goes up and up. . . and up!

That means the school has to pay more money to keep it running

So I and all my outher eco buddies are going to try and stop it!!!!

Hello, we are the eco crew and we go to Malcolm Sargent Primary School in Stamford. Within the next week or so, we will be posting our idea onto the Web in thought of WINNING! Our names are: Eliot Siggs, Lewis Golby, Harriet Harvey, and Beth Templeman! We call ourselves either 'The Eco Crew' or 'The Treehuggers'. We will be pitching our idea soon, but meanwhile we will be putting together a competition for our school. The team are working on improving our school environmentally.

you really think it's the wind that recycles?
it's nice to be recycled, but thought it should do. think you're done, we must act. Many people believe that we must save the earth but it is wrong, we must save the humans and it will save them or rather the earth. few people are aware of the seriousness of things but it has to change.he must act, we can already try to recycle, it is a start, most people throw their garbage on the ground, these are people who know the situation today.
freedom to act, it must exist but also to be understood. that's why many companies are working on it. visit and talk with them to understand and even learn.

Climate Change USA

My America trip turned out to be a lot longer than the intended week, in fact an extra 10 days due to the volcanic ash clouds.

Started off in New York and then onto Washington DC. I got to visit the ,rarely opened to the public, White House gardens including Michelle Obama’s allotment, their produce is already growing well.

Now is the time to start planting our summer veg & flowers now that the risk of frost has hopefully gone.

Also in DC I visited author and peacemaker Jeni Stepanek at her home, and she took me to the Mattie J T Stepanek peace park and showed me his statue and a brick with my name on it.

In all I travelled through 9 states of the USA and ended up at the Hilton Hotel in Boston where we flew home from.

In the near future I will be giving a climate change presentation at a Billingham school.

The deputy head of our college has asked me to do a climate change presentation at HM Prison.

Today, I’ve been invited by Nancy Hunt, the president of the New York based foundation –WAFF Three Dot Dash, to represent the Global teen leaders at a event in London later this year.

So it’s still all go for me, with exams to do as well,

I'm supporting a WOW generation!!!

Well, we're coming towards the end of another school year, with exams looming and holidays around the corner, But now is not the time to stop ‘thinking' of new things as footprintfriends' most important event of the year is arriving; WOW 2010.

Last year's WOW brought together brilliant ideas and even more colourful characters to challenge the most important issue we face - climate change. There are many ways to start tackling this - just a quick look at the forums shows all the possibilities, but what's important to us is how we can make this change happen now. So where to begin? We think waste. We're all directly responsible for creating waste, so it's an area where we can all easily (and not so easily) make an impact. Last year's competitors would have had us meat free on Monday, eating from re-usable, biodegradable cutlery or even using pencil holders to stop us throwing pencils away before they're finished. But this wasn't all talk and no action - HRH the Duchess of Cornwall unveiled the winning prize; our sponsor's energy saving technology - and it's already wiping out some of the school's wasted electricity. The event itself, held at the frontline club in London, brought so much more energy and excitement than I could have expected, that looking after two schools during their stay in London was, to be honest, inspiring. Their enthusiasm and common sense approach to dealing with problems they saw as important flies right in the face of our world leaders, unable to reach a decision at Copenhagen.

So what can you do to make this kind of difference? Apply for this year's WOW awards!

Humans have exploited the Earth for too long. But years ago, people didn't know there was anything wrong,they didn't realise. Over the newt thirty years global temperatures will get higher and higher. And there will be droughts especially in Third World countries. That will mean less and less water for drinking and for agriculture.

Sustainable Schools

Today, Bede college handed over the donations for the Romania Easter Seeds Appeal-there were over 6 large boxes of clothes, garden hoes, garden cultivators, garden gloves, lots of seeds. So that the people in Romania can grow their own produce.

I did a presentation and workshop for the Sustainable Schools project yesterday which was for head teachers, teachers & governors. Went really well and got several invitations to do presentations at schools.

If any one wants any info on setting up eco councils or saving energy or water at your school/college just let me know,

Last week I was at Oxford University and only got 10days to go before I go to New York, Washington DC and the White house. So still all go for me,

Hiya all,

Been really busy lately! Last week I met Bill Bryson who is a author, environmentalist and he also wrote the forward for the Climate Change Schools Project book. He was at the University Challenge event that I was at.

I’ve been invited back to New York to give a presentation about climate change, at the Youth Ted X Teen conference, which is in a few weeks time. But unfortunately with everything going on at college and I am already missing college next week as I’m going to Oxford University for two days and I am going to NY and Washington DC where I am visiting the white house, with a college trip in April. BUT, I am going to do a video presentation instead, as I really couldn’t catch up on any more college work that I would miss,

I will be meeting a member of Middlesbrough Council on Monday to talk about getting involved with a workshop in a few weeks which is about tackling climate change, saving energy & water in schools.

At college we are currently running an Easter Seed appeal for Romania. We are collecting seeds/garden tools and clothes to send off at the end of the month,

So what with college exams as well I’m keeping on my toes! (excuse the foot joke)

Argh, I'm so frsutrated! Today has just been a disaster, emotions began to run high as we, the youth delegates from Plan International started to say our good byes!

It was so difficult to hold back the waterworks!

But this trip has been an inspiring, life changing opportunity. I've made some great friends and colleagues in the battle against Climate Change.

It was great to get started using Footprint friends, it offers a unique opportunity for networking and peer education!

Our flight from Copenhagen to London Gatwick has been cancelled, so we ended up back in our hotel with the Swedish and Dutch guys; which compensated.

I turned 18 just half an hour ago; I really miss my family and friends at the moment, in this hotel room all alone!

NGO delegation numbers have been drastically reduced to 300 from 22,ooo registered delegates.

Friends of the Eart who were ejected yesterday confront Yvo Du Boer to 'open the door' and let NGO's and Civil society inside the Bella Centre; hub of all the talks.

Meanwhile, we are trying to secure an interview with Parliamentary-under-secretary for the Department for Energy and Climate Change Joan Ruddock, however the meeting is being held within the Bella Centre, we are pulling out all the stops to try and get us accreditation! Also, we are trying to secure an interview with the Chief of the Danish Police!

We'll let you know on more info!
