10 out of 10 for enthusiasm. The talk show idea was a great way of putting your message across - good debate. We liked your ideas about how to tackle the plastic bag problem – we are interested to see how you get on with your Top 10 tips and advice for local shops.

The Plastic Bag Project - Leaflet and dispenser. Topic: Plastic bag

Hellesdon High School Environmental Philosophy

We as a school believe that climate change is a big issue and so last year, Year 9 spent a whole day learning about it and this year the geography department have organised a lights out day.  Our art department have also done a number of projects based on recycling and we have an eco-schools club that have reached silver status and are working towards green flag status with a number of projects including making a greenhouse out of plastic bottles.  We recycle as much as possible including paper, cardboard, ink cartridges and mobile phones.

We chose our plastic bag project ‘The KEENAN GROOM SHOW’  because when we walk around our school and local area we see litter which is mostly plastic based, it is really heartbreaking, especially when we also found out that 100,000 marine animals die each year because they get caught up in plastic bags.  So we decided to help our school look clean and plastic bag free and help the local environment at the same time.

We hope to make a difference to all of the pupils and staff and of course the local community
