    Double Glazing and Loft Insulation!!!

Double Glazing really helps our environment, by trapping a layer of air between two panes of glass, which keeps the heat in - and the cold out.

What about Loft Insulation? Well, you see, loft insulation has lots of pockets of air, and... er... someone tell me what happens next...Huh?

Double glazing has a vacuum between the two panes of glass, stops heat transferring straight through. The fact there's a vacuum is to stop a convection current forming between the two panes.

Loft insulation uses trapped air bubbles to insulate against heat loss from the house down below. Air is actually a really good insulator - When its held still.

Theres so much pollution in the air now that if it werent for our lungs there would be no place to put it all. ~Robert Orben

Double glazing and loft insulation are all very good things, however what about the costrs of them... I know that my mum cannot afford double glazing and what about cavity wall insulation??

I know there are grants for this type of thing but who actually knows what they are and how to apply. Also i have heard that the process is long and hard which is surely off putting. (correct me if i am wrong of course). I think that we should be taught more about these things in ways we will understand because it is our generation that will benefit most from these grants from the government.

Also what are the environmental impacts of creating things like loft insulation and double glazing??

i know there are grants and the process is usually quite quick  - my grandparents got it done in like three months and now there house is really warm. They found out about a grant through the company who did it for them. I guess it just depends on the company and the house. The bigger the house, the bigger the job, the more it costs!!!!
