Having met him, he does seem genuinely interested in climate change, but, as with all political movements, andy, no matter how minor issue must go through so many processes. Also, the PM realistically hasn't had enough time to make radical ideas. He needs a stable couple of months before it can be introduced safely. Does anyone else agree?

I am sure Gordon Brown does the best job he can do with the information he has presented to him. Being PM is a job I would not like to have. All the decisions you make as PM effect so many people and in so many different ways.

My biggest worry is that environmental issues are used as a vehicle to get more money from more people with no real beneficial result to stop or slow climate change.

Gordon Brown has the power to make the difference - we need to help him achieve the change.

I don't think it is the last thing on his mind - I just think he has to make the right decision that will make the change we need.

The decision needs to be around reducing the human effects of climate change and our incredibly wasteful lifestyle without effecting the fragile way our lives are run.

The decision needs to be based on the end goal and not around financial gain.

What do you guys think our PM Gordon Brown should start with?

Post at least 3 things each that you would do if you had the POWER!

Introduce a 10p charge on carrier bags, at the moment there are 18 BILLION a year used , the money could but used to develop back to nature groups where unused community land could be redeveloped.

A congestion charge of £50 a day or £1500 a year in all major cities. This could be put into providing a fast free public transport system with lots of extra bus lanes on all roads due to lessened traffic. Exemptions to essential services.

Not exactly energy savings but have free gym memberships to all under 18's as it would tackle obesity and improve fitness and gives young people somewhere to go.

The use of solar energy has not been opened up because the oil industry does not own the sun.

Its best not just just tax people for energy savings as it puts people off it is better to give rewards as well ! Cool

did you know that it takes about 1000 years for a carrier bag to decay, SO you can you use it over and over and over etc... again. Good ideas Eco-Warrior.  Big Smile

The quickest way to make britain greener is to have compulsory solar panels in new builds-

That sounds great this is what I thinjk the government should put money towards not war or making more money but to invest it in makeing the world greener

I heard in factories they release harmfull gases such as sulphur dioxide which creates acid rain but the could install a machine that filters and disposes of the sulphur dioxide but the dont use it because it is so pricey this annoys me so much Grrrrr Angry

Introduce an extra fuel tax for 4x4s and give tax breaks to greener cars

Charge people for waste going to landfill

All new homes must be at least 35% energy self sufficent.

Oh and re-introduce the 10p tax rate, taxing the poor more and the rich less really is quite stupid!

Refuse, reduce, repair, reuse, rot, recycle Daleks rock!!!
