Green Britan?

Hi champs i just wanted to ask how you were going to change britan into a greener place? As you know that the 1st 9 champs did a pretty good job if I do say so myself. are you going to give speeches at confrences. i hope you suceed in your mission. hope you answer my question.

In a nutshell... by being active in raising awarness! 

There is not one single answer, because to change Britain into a greener place, lots needs to happen. However, I hope we can be a catalyst for change by raising the awareness of climate change and showing that young people really can make a difference.

My first event is next week, where I will be speaking at a conference on sustainable schools. I really want to get across my feelings as a young person and share my ideas on what we can do. I feel the media is helpful too, as it is important to make yourself heard. Lastly, I think the projects we run using the £1000 will also contribute to both raising awareness and also actually doing something for a sustainable future!

I agree with Akhil and ex London was...Aazim Ihsan.

In addition with Akhil's points, I would like to change people's attitudes, into more proactive ones, so that people actively fight climate change, not just support those fighting it. I personally know how easy it is not to, but with the right motivation and persuasion, it can be done. Unfortunately whenever I do interviews I find that my "do the small bits is kept in" things like changing lightbulbs, which is all very good, but unfortunately they leave out the part where I do a bit of a rant on politics, and urge people to write to MPs ect. Grr, but at least they cover my other points.

Hi!

I want people to recognise climate change as a moral issue, rather than a merely political or economic one. It is irrefutably terrifying. Yet I do feel that we have cause to be optimistic: if we stand together now, we'll achieve one of our species' most remarkable - and most defining - goals. And that's what I want to tell people.

Eco-Dude - as a veteran champion, can you give us any ideas or words of wisdom? I love your enthusiam!

I've been telling all the new Champs about all your amazing achievements up in the North East They've got a tough act to follow it has to be said, but I'm really pleased at how we're doing after only one month. Hopefully we can arrange something for you to meet our new North East Champion, Jack. Hope you are very well anyway - what are you up to now?

Hi Adam,

Really busy lately with starting a new garden project at our school so I've been doing some assemblies to get people to join our Garden group. We now have a lot of people involved and we put in 6 hours work last week; weeding, cutting down dead trees, diggging the vegetable patch, cutting back evil prickly bushes, setting up composters and water butts. Also over the week end I went to three local businesses asking them if they could help and support our garden project. Two of them said yes and we also plan to do some fundraising soon.

The group were really keen and wanted to do it every night last week. The footprint friends website link is on our school webpage now so we might be getting a few more members on this site.

Been tied down with loads of homework lately but today got the results of my two of my GCSE Science papers I got an A* in both.

I would love to meet up with Jack sometime and talk to him about his trip and entry. The new champs are doing some good posts on this website.

The British Counil has invited me, Sarah & Jordan down to International Climate Change Champions event in London at the end of this month.

i think green britan will be better because it will show what a good example britan is and everyone will like birtan more and it will be better for our economy and we will have more investment in our country.
