    Nuclear Power

In the final, anxious days of fossil fuels, the human race faces a painful ultimatum. We must make a decision that will leave an indelible mark on our future, potentially beyond our time on Earth. At the centre of it lies one of the greatest environmental controversies of the age: nuclear fission. So, is it a solution to climate change? Is it morally acceptable? Is this science's only viable answer?

    You choose.

What do you feel about nuclear?

It depends on how they get rid of tne nuclear waste which is really harmful, if they just put it in the sea then i am against it.

yeah, i agree with GreeenPlanet. as long  the watse is disposed of in a environmentaly friendly way, then i think it should be a good way of getting energy. Yes

its hardly going to do any good. whats wrong with solar and wind power. some say it doesnt provide enough energy, but if the western world was as sophisticated as it thought it was, we would have found a way for clean sources to produce more energy.Angry

Maybe they will be able to make wind turbines so well ,

    so that it works constantly.

Or solarpanels that even work with moonlight!

    Re: Nuclear Power

I know this is not really about Nuclear Power but have you seen the literature about Kite wind farms? The power is harnessed from the pull on the winches. They can be installed over large areas, the technology is very new.The energy they produce is constant as the kites fly high.  They can be winched in or away as the weather dictates gathering energy with each movement.

I've got a feeling this science (nuclear) is regarded as the 'easiest' as it takes just one decision - the renewable power science involves lots of variables and needs to be nurtured as this science and our understanding evolves. My worry is that we might just miss the opportunity to harness the power of nature because the view is that we can't make enough of it to meet demand - my question would be... how hard have we tried

Any way - it would seem that the 'easiest' path has already been chosen:

In the news today....see the headline Ministers Plot Uk Nuclear Future. The government organised a day-long seminar in London attended by leaders from large energy companies in the hope of persuading them that the UK was an attractive venue for new nuclear investment.
