    richard:

I have been in the garden ALL WEEKEND and I am pooped!

    I have:

    • cleared (well partially) the area for our new vegetable patch
    • re-located a small 6tf tree
    • re-located a bamboo plant
    • re-located plant/tree thing with yellow flowers on it
    • re-felted the roof of a playhouse (blown off in the wind)
    • hooked up a new water butt to the rain pipe ready for our new veggie patch!
    • re-used some old fence panels for a boarder retainer
    • used some decomposing grass cuttings/leaves/twigs to fill the boarder (see below)

    Hi Richard,

You certainly have been busy bet you feel a lot better for it. Think the compost container fence looks really cool the advantages of having an open compost bin is that it can attract small mammals into your garden.

Ray Mears Bushcraft is one of my favourite programmes, I have an open canoe like the one he uses some times.

Doing our sponsored litter pick today to raise some money for the garden, the one who picks the most litter, and the one who gets the most sponsorship money gets an easter egg.

It's all go, so off to school now,

    Hiya everyone,

Just a quick update with our Eco events:

Finished our litter pick and 2 hours really made a difference, so far we have raised just over £100 cash and if we collect all sponsorships we should have around £200.

I have just discovered that I can get free topsoil from our local council tip/incinerator, it is composted from veg waste and garden rubbish (grass cuttings, leaves, plants etc.) So if anyone is doing eco gardens it is worth enquiring to your local council about free top soil. One of our teachers is going to take a trailer down tomorrow to collect some if he can get the time off.

Keep you updated on our eco garden up in the North East

I've been helping Richard nearly finish his garden all day, its so tiring - my arms feel like they might fall off.

We used really cool re-claimed railway sleepers to mark out the vegetable patch, I'm sure he'll put some photos on here soon.

    Hi,

Where did you get the sleepers from as we could do with some for the garden?

I got ours from romseyreclamation.com its was an amazing place with loads and loads of recycled bits of buildings - beams, chimneys, windows, things for the garden. The were £14 each and they are really heavy!

But I also fount this railwaysleepers.com which might me nearer to you, the pictures are brilliant.

Be careful when you are in the places, my little boy who is 4, fell over and got a bloody nose Sad He is fine but just you guys be careful!

I am still working on the veggie patch in the garden and I will tell you all about it later with photos!
