    What should Hayleigh ask Hilary?

Hayleigh, our brilliant Yorkshire & Humber Champion is meeting Hilary Benn, the Secretary of State for the Environment on Friday. Hopefully she will have some time to ask him a few questions....What do people on here suggest she asks him?

She should ask him to paint his feet for us!

I'll think up some more serious questions later...

She could ask him will the money raised from eco taxes be put back into developing renewable energy projects & public transport and not diverted elsewhere. Moon

I heard he was a vegetarian with a keen interest in gardening and has four kids - what kind of things do his family do at home to 'do their bit' to help the environment / ease Climate Change?

Do you think the term "off setting" is too widely used? and if so...

Re: What should Hayleigh ask Hilary?

    Hi, everyone

thankyou to everyone for their support and helping me out with the questions. It went really well and he was lovely and was really intrested in what i had to say. He said that it was a pleasure to meet me and he will look forword to hearing about what we are all doing in the future as it is us who going to be affected.

I asked him what he and his family have done and he was telling me about all the carbon friendly tatics he applies such as enery efficient lightbulbs. I also got to ask him about the climate change bill that is currently being sorted out and the targets that the goverment wish to reach. He said that the scientist information that has come through show the targets need to be even more drastic than before and we need to cut down by 80 % by 2050. We were also talking about our trip to the netherlands and especially the boat trip. We also disscussed what my school was doing to help and if they were supportive he thought my school were setting a good example and cetain things need to be incorperated into other schoolos such as more recycling.

The day was really good and to top it of i got to go shoopnig after for a while so all in all it was a really good day.

P.S a meesage to all champions past and present and anyone who is doing their bit to help Hillary Benn said what we are doing is amazing and  he congratulates us in our efforts to help towords change.

if you have any questions or want to know anything i havent mentioned metion it and ill reply as soon as possible

     thankyou hayleigh
