footprint friends: brillient or just good?

i love footprint friens but i'm not quite sure about how much i should go on it. Hmm

You see using a computer increases your carbon footprint, so why are we on computers and using fossil fuels or urainium or what ever we use and therefore poluting the enviroment.(still Hmm!)

don't get me wrong I love the zoobloids and like the way the footprint friends staff and climate champions do things and make everyone's life that litle bit longer, as they don't get as much polution in their lifes and don't breatgh it  in. Footprint friendsand and my school's eco club have made me more aware about the enviroment and how we destroy it and how we take it all for granted but as i said computers use up energy fast.

    please express you're views.

it is a bit complicated to work out how much your computer uses per hour, as there are many things to think of such as the size of your monitor and the size of teh computer. each monitor and computer are different.

A typical desktop computer (not including the monitor) uses about 65 watts give or take a few watts depending on the computer. A typical desktop computer with a processor running at a 100% load uses about 90 watts. The typical desktop in hibernation uses about 3-35 watts depending on the hardware. A typical CRT (the big computer monitor) takes about 80 watts give or take a few. A typical LCD (small flat cool looking monitors) uses about 35 watts give or take a few.

that is a good question Smile

Why do you come on here?

You come on here to be able to chat with others who have the same ideas about the environment or to debate with those that don't. Rather than being one small voice you get to join together to be a one huge voice so that others will listen.

Footprint Friends is a tool for you to use to be able to let others know your feelings. While you are too young to vote how can you have "your say" Footprint Friends gives you this possibility and with more and more joining everyday you can all join together and get things done.

    Hope that helps Smile

    Hi,

If think you are right, we are being a bit hipocrictal, but without this site, your voice won't be heard. I can see and I do understand your ponit of view, but what polluts more: you being on the PC, doing something to save the world or hopping in the car, without any thought, to go to town? Or to the shops? Just keep it into consideration, that what you are doing is good, and keep coming on as soon as you get a good idea!!

P.S And also lots of engery companys are changing to renewable energy sources. Way not campaigen against coal buring power stations instead?

it's alright if you go on the computer for a limited time but if you leave it on the computer can become slow and also it's bad for the environment, so remeber to switch off
