    Hi Eco-Dude,

Yes the Netherlands trip was really exciting! Your trip sounded really amazing - how did you manage to play circket on the mountain top?!

Here is a brief summary of what we did. I am sure once I finish my diary of events, I will be able to give some more detailed accounts.

    • Completed a treasure hunt across Amsterdam city to find 'green' things
    • Met Frans Timmermans (Dutch Minister for Europe) and the British Ambassador in a reception evening
    • Saw a high-tech solar powered car (Nuna4) which won the solar championship race last year
    • Visited Madurodam, a miniature version of the Netherlands
    • Went to Q7 Off-shore Wind Park in the North Sea (but it was too foggy to see the turbines!)
    • Learnt to snowboard at SnowWorld (great fun!)
    • Visited a Climate Change Energy Park and saw Gewoonboot (a self-sustaining house-boat)

    Hi Akhil,

Sounded like a really cool, informative trip ! Big Smile

The use of solar energy has not been opened up because the oil industry does not own the sun.

Woah! Sounds great! erm we stayed near a hut and there was a garden to it. Our leader (alex) Had fortunately brought a cricket bat and a few balls with him. We hit the balls hard and never got them back cos they went into a waterfall! It was great fun! Big Smile

We also had quite an interesting time dodging bikes and trams. There are so many of them it's brilliant (unless you don't jump out of the way in time).

Don't mention the trams. My first near death experience! Only joking.

Great trip, great places, great purpose, great people. So it was pretty much GREAT

When you were there, did you get any feeling about how low the country is below sea level (did any of the Dutch people you met talk about it as a motivation to do something)?  They are one of the countries likely to be most affected by rising sea levels.

    Re: Netherlands?

My personal favourite of the European Expedition has to be the boat trip to the Q7 wind-park...now that is what legends are made of. I will always remember standing on the deck of that ship, broom in hand, watching a massive wave drown thr Welsh Champs, and then seeing Ziana (our West Midlands Champ) being horribly ill off the side of the ship, before the Welsh Camera man chucked up on my broom. Oh yes, one day I will laugh about all that, but not for a fair bit....

    Hola sister,

    I don't think so somehow.

"I'm feeling ill" "Eat some food then" "No! Thant's going to make me more ill"

I think Patrick had an apetite though!

Amazing how the event that went completely not to plan was the most memorable. The thing that makes me laugh is the sheer number of people the day before and on the coach refusing sea sickness tablets, saying that they'd never been sick before and "they'll be fine"...
