Lowering the voting age to 16?

I watched a program on Sunday morning this weekend called The Big Questions , they had quite a lot of young people in the crowd and one of the topics they talked about was Lowering the voting age to 16 (you can still watch it on BBC iPlayer if your interested).

Here’s a related website with a video which puts across the pro-change view quite well http://www.votesat16.org.uk/

Now I thought people on this board would have some interesting opinions on this subject (possibly especially the Champs), so I’ve started this poll...

Do you agree with Lowering the minimum voting age from 18 to 16?

I think if we can leave school and start a life of our own at 16 we should be allowed to have our say in the country that we are contributing to. (So. yes)

erm young people at the age of 16 should be allowed to vote because they live in that country and they have to contribute and agree on a wise and politically talented leader.

I have heard that there are calls for everyone to stay in education untill 18!! What do you think about that? Hmm

At 16 we have already been given s many responsibilities, and in voting I personally think the youth should be represented, and at 16, it will be easier to represent ages younger than 16, as obviously one can know what affects the younger age ranges.

i dont think tthat we should have to stayr in school till we are 18 because most teenagers go off to college to study subjects that they want to do when they are older and some do scholarships which get them ahead for there future.

making us stay in school longer is just going to make older poeple think we're children for longer and not let us make our own decision

18 is a age where lots of thigs happen. for example you might take your driving test. Staying in school until 18 is not cool and i don't want to do that.
