cow farts

why dont they make a dome that the cows can live in it could trap the menthane ?

As methane gas rises it is destroying the ozone layer . I think that cows should be isolated in large areas and thier diets changed so that thier waste gasses they produce are not as harmfull to the environment.

Sound like a plan, if they generate as much methane as scientists claim then this could be used to generate some energy, but not sure how oxygen flow and extraction of the methane would work inside the dome.

Interesting... The dome would have to be very hi tech because if the methane was not disposed of soon enough wouldn't the cow choke on the methane?

Although methane is more potent than CO2 it doesn't continue to exist in the atmosphere as long as CO2. So ignore the cows!!!  :-) 

Heya, i think if scientists did more research into cow farts to see if they could be used as an energy source, Then we should try it out and see if it could be useable. If not, just try and find out more ways we could make new energys that are eco-friendly.

There are a few posts on the whole methane subject but I dont understand why they dont use it every where now are there any reason to why the methane should not be used?

HAHA cow farts...anyway...it ruins the atmosphere...does it not?

methane isnt used in industry because it isnt as easy to use as other natural gases because it is a very stable hydrocarbon.

in fact ethane is the only hydrocarbon more stable than methane and ethane is a gaseous form of pure alchohol.

to create energy you must burn the fuel to create steam to turn the turbines, but methane is not flammable enough. it is very boring chemistry and proves that any one who has ever said they've lighted a fart before is lying!

I was told the other day that 20% comes out ouf a cows bottom as a fart and the other 80% come sout their mouths as burps!!!

Is this true?
