  • Re: How much packaging is OK?

As I have mentioned before, this is a fantastic idea! On the 29th May there was a Radio programme about packaging. This link should work until 5th June when it will change to another eco programme. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio4_aod.shtml?radio4/costingtheearth

  • Re: Do you recycle?

Hi I have seen special recycle boxes for sale in supermarkets. These might help motivate people to recycle and they have flap lids so you can tip them out into your recycle bin. We just have to stay focussed on doing our bit and not getting lazy as it is easy to not bother. Footprint joe90

  • Re: "Super" Markets

You may be right, but smart companies realise they can attract good publicity and attrcat more customers if they can say they are investing in renewable power (like Marks and Spencers for example). Or if sainburies started running their vans on old chip fat, this might encourge new coustomers. It also...

  • Re: "Super" Markets

I have a feeling that super markets a nd indeed other big companies don't take the steps they tell us to, to protect our planet, because it costs to much! i think this is a pityfull excuse. they value money more than our future generations! How much extra would it cost if they did turn to alternative...

  • Is our quality of life an environmental issue ?

Looking at this and thought they made some interesting comments ‘The great Error of our Nature is not to know where to stop; not to be satisfied with any reasonable Acquirement; not to compound with our Condition; but to lose all we have gained by an insatiable Pursuit after more.’ Edmund Burke, 1757...
  • Re: carrier bag madness

I think that shops like Morrisons are not trying hard enough to get us to reuse bags for instance tesco are giving club cards out but I think that they should try harder as people are just not bothering.

  • Re: How much packaging is OK?

Crisps should not be sold in multipacks, but discounts should be given if many bags are purchased. Fruit and veg should be sold loose and put in recycled, reuseable paper bags. If food expires, as it is sold loose it can just be composted and used to help grow more food It makes sense, doesn't it...

  • Re: No more supermarkets!

We are the customers so we have to vote with our feet and shop in small businesses and farms where we can, the problem I see is the fact that it is easy to go to one shop and buy everything especially if you are busy which is why supermarkets are growing. Maybe farmers and small businesses need to think...
  • How much packaging is OK?

After I come home from food shopping I end up with at least one bag of rubbish just from the packaging of our food! - Crisps come inside bags which come inside bags! - Apples are shrink wrapped and set in polystyrene! Our food is packaged so that it is protected until we need to eat it. We need clean...
