  • Is nuclear really THE way to go....

Hey, I heard that the nuclear power stations have been given the go ahead in the UK. The problem is, I don't feel comfortable with them. And I mean even if we didn't have lights switching on and computers, it's not like we couldn't survive without them. Send a letter, meet up places....

  • Re: Prince Charles looking for Climate Change Champions in companies...

I live quite close to Poundbury (Prince Charles's Town) and it isn't all that green, not wind turbines or solar panels as they "don't look nice" (by the way, Poundbury is supposed to look really nice, you're not even allowed a cat flap as they look "bad"). But they...

  • Plasma Bulbs - Not a lot of bulb, a huge amount of light.

Just seen this video (below), not sure about the pros and cons when compared against LED or CFL lights yet, but looks really good and efficient from the video... [youtube:lTGsM9pplUs] for any science geeks: Instead of a glowing hot filament or electrodes passing high voltage through xenon gas; it uses...

  • Climate Change Event

I'm one of the new climate change champions, and I've been thinking about the sort of event I could spend my £1000 on. As you are the green kids of our generation, I thought I'd do some 'market research'. What sort of campaigns and projects most appeal to you? What is the best way...

  • Re: Simple steps can help make you an Eco Hero

So what are we doing to become Eco Heros and help others ? I have been reducing times I travel in cars, especially short journeys. Tyring to walk more. Switching off stuff which does not need to be on at night, or when it is not in use during day. Keeping an eye on making sure our house recycle as much...

  • Coal Power Shutdown

Green peace recently shutdown a coal fuelled power station. Story from :- Greenpeace.org.uk We’ve taken over Kingsnorth coal fired power station in Kent to send the message to Gordon Brown: don't bottle it on climate change by giving the green light to the first new coal plant in the UK for over...

  • Light at the end of the Tunnel...

The pressure Greenpeace has been putting on retailers to stop selling power crazy bulbs is starting to pay off. They have produced a light bulb retailers league which you can see by following the link below. Asda and Morrisons have announced they will improve their game plan and phase out power eating...

  • Re: The lights are off, but we're all home!

Hi just read something about consumer electronics products using 30% of the average household electric bill so as well as switching off lights, we could look at not leaving these items on longer than we need. I have started plugging in the items to power bars and then switching the whole power bar off...
  • Re: wind farms

Some people see wind turbines as beautiful things because they are doind a beautiful thing, if they were a nuclear weapon launch unit, few, if any people would tolerate them. As it is, wind farms look like one of the ways forward in the battle against climate change, even if theymay be a blot on a nice...
